Richard Gorman - President and CEO

Richard Gorman

Richard joins Vormetric with over 20 years of technology industry experience. Most recently Richard was a Venture Partner at venture capital firm Bay Partners and was on the Board of a number of high tech software companies.  Prior to joining Bay Partners, Richard was Senior Vice President of Products with Siebel Systems, where he drove product direction, strategy, and execution for over $1 billion in products, and integrated and managed five acquisitions of innovative software companies. He also served in senior management roles at Apple Computer, Sun Microsystems and Borland. Richard has been involved in a number of startups, including Ansa Software (developers of Paradox), which was acquired by Borland. Richard attended the Massachusetts Institute of Technology for five years and has a B.S. and M.S. in Computer Science and a Master’s degree in management from the MIT Sloan School of Management.

 

Frank Teruel - VP, Finance and CFO

Frank Teruel

Frank Teruel directs all finance, administration, operations, professional services, and customer support activities at Vormetric. Prior to joining Vormetric, Teruel served as Vice President of Finance for Emagia Corporation, an enterprise software company focused on working capital optimization solutions. Prior to Emagia, he served as VP Finance and Chief Financial Officer for TelePost, Inc., an international provider of conferencing and collaborative solutions. As Managing Director of Montgomery Financial Management, Teruel was responsible for all aspects of the Northern and Southern California practices. He also brings experience from SyQuest, Inc. where he held senior financial and sales management positions, and PricewaterhouseCoopers. Teruel holds an MBA from Liberty, a BA degree in Business Administration and is a CPA.

 

Steve Pate - CTO

Steve Pate

Steve Pate joins Vormetric with 20 years of operating system technology experience primarily in the areas of filesystem and storage technologies and has been involved in projects using numerous versions of UNIX, Linux and microkernel technologies. Most recently he has been involved in several startups in the storage area networking arena. Steve spent 8 years in the Veritas filesystem group where he was responsible for delivering solutions across multiple versions of UNIX and Linux. Prior to that he was responsible for the architecture of SCO's UNIX and microkernel developments. Steve began his career with International Computers Limited (ICL) where he led the Development of a microkernel-based implementation of System V Release 4 UNIX. Steve is a published author with two books on UNIX operating system and filesystem internals and holds a B.S. in Computer Science from Leeds University in the UK.

 

Bill Hackenberger - VP, Engineering

Bill Hackenberger

A 25-year veteran of Silicon Valley, Bill has more than 12 years of experience in the information security industry. Bill joined Vormetric from Caymas Systems, where he directed the development and delivery of Identity-Based Access Gateway solutions.  Earlier, as the director of engineering of host protection security products at Internet Security Systems (ISS), he was in charge of a global engineering organization and oversaw integration of several pioneering security technology companies and their products into ISS, including BlackIce IDS from Network Ice Corporation; behavior-based antivirus products from vCIS; and server-vulnerability assessment solutions from March Systems.  As director of engineering at Network General Corporation, he was responsible for the delivery of the original “Cyber Cop”, the first commercial appliance-based intrusion detection system.  He also was the principal designer of WebSniffer, the first product to enhance web-server performance by merging real-time network protocol analysis with live OS kernel and web server metrics.  Earlier in his career Bill founded and led engineering for AIM Technology (acquired by Network General) and for several other software technology startups.  Bill holds a bachelor degree in computer science from Michigan State University.

 

 

Bruce Johnson - VP, Worldwide Sales Operations and Business Development

Bruce Johnson

Bruce Johnson heads up strategic alliances and business development relationships worldwide in addition to international sales operations. Johnson brings 18 years of information security experience emning solutions focused on data privacy and protection, intrusion prevention/detection, security policy compliance, firewalls, VPNs and identity management. Most recently, he served as Vice President of Sales at Entercept, a leading provider of Host Intrusion Prevention Systems. Prior to that Johnson was Vice President of Sales at Arcot Systems, a company focused on the delivery of digital identity solutions. Johnson also served as Vice President of Sales and Business Development for Axent, an information security corporation (acquired by Symantec). Before Axent, he served as Vice President of Sales and Business Development for Digital Pathways. He holds a BA in Economics from California State University.

 

Gretchen Hellman - Sr. Director of Marketing

Gretchen Hellman

Gretchen Hellman brings over 10 years of enterprise security and enterprise software experience to her role as the Senior Director of Marketing for Vormetric. Most recently, Gretchen was Director of Product Marketing for Voltage Security, where she led product marketing, field marketing and corporate marketing initiatives. Prior to Voltage Security, she was responsible for compliance market strategy at ArcSight, where she drove initiative to apply ArcSight’s award winning Security Information and Event Management solution to the regulatory compliance market. She has also held marketing leadership roles at Network Associates/McAfee. Gretchen began her career in information security as a consultant specializing in security policy and security program development. Gretchen is a frequent speaker in the areas of security standards and control frameworks, regulatory compliance strategies, security policy, and security technologies. She holds a B.S.E.E. from Santa Clara University.
